My Broken Palace Leads Public School Assembly

My Broken Palace recently Sponsored a Public High School Assembly in Moreno Valley California.

 Negative Statistics provided by the Moreno Valley Unified School District called for Action from not just teachers & parents, but from local Businesses and even Churches. With stats like:

*the highest teen pregnancy rate in CA

*the 2nd highest STD rate in the County

*3rd highest student drop out rate in CA

Armed with a Touring Rock Band, a Motivational Speaker, and 1,000 copies of the My Broken Palace Book of Hope. My Broken Palace filled the Moreno Valley Eagles BleachersTwice during first & second period.

When students arrived at the gym they were greeted by "Student Advocates" from a near by Youth Orientated Community Church. Each student received a Free Copy of the My Broken Palace Book of Hope.

The Band "A Life Set Apart" performed their Hit "Phoenix" written by the lead singer Morgan about her past struggles with Depression and Self Injury and how she found Hope and rose up out of the Ashes of her Brokenness like the Mythical Bird the Phoenix.

A relevant & captivating message was presented by speaker Egypt McKee. Egypt, an X-Games Sky Diver kept the attention of 1000 High School Students through the use of Humor, Honesty and the use of his parachute. His hard hitting message spoke directly to the students sense of Self Worth  and having a Purpose for their lives.

 Youth Director Gabe Carlson invited students to attend a series of public discussions at Moreno Christian Assembly regarding topics of Brokenness ranging from Depression, Self Injury(cutting), Bullying and Suicidal Thoughts.  Gabe

also told students his team of "Student Advocates " will be available on the High School Campus "just to listen and offer encouragement" to students that would like to express their point of view regarding any challenges they see or might be experiencing.

My Broken Palace brought a Wall of Expression, where the students used sharpies and wrote personalized statements ranging from despair, abuse, addiction to statements of Hope.

Afterward, the Band Members, Gabe & Egypt met with the students on a more personal level. Signing autographs, discussing ways to get help and where to get connect to a mentor.
